Silvia Lopez Chavez

Boston based artist Silvia López Chavez believes in the power of the creative process as an agent for positive change. Her work investigates the human need to connect on multiple levels: socially, politically and culturally. Chavez’s social practice has led to collaborations with NEFA’s Creative City, a mural on the Charles River Esplanade with Now+There, and murals at Northeastern University, Punto Urban Art Museum, Barr Foundation, HoneyGrow and HUBweek. She has received recognition through commissions and residencies encompassing Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Google HQ in California, New England Foundation for the Arts, Massachusetts Cultural Council, Vermont Studio Center, MassMoCA Assets4Artists, and Boston Center for the Arts. Chavez holds a BFA in Illustration from the Massachusetts College of Art & Design and is an award-winning design professional, working with high-profile companies and institutions such as Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, World Health Organization, and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
